Another referral has involved advising and supporting a professional worker – a therapeutic young persons advocate (at a Sexual Assault Referral Centre) – working with a teenage female victim of sexual assault who has a learning disability.
This is to ensure that she is identified as a vulnerable victim (within the meaning of the legislation) and to recognise her eligibility to special measures, such as consideration by the police in using an intermediary in order for her to achieve her best evidence when being interviewed.
