Safe Places Scheme

Safe Places Scheme

The scheme is a nationwide project to enable people with learning disabilities to deal with any incident that takes place whilst they are out and about in the community.  Incidents could range from harassment or bullying to just needing directions.

VOICE UK can provide training for people with learning disabilities and for professionals.

With a recent project set up at the Westfield Centre, Derby, VOICE UK provided training to all the security staff at the centre to enable the scheme to operate smoothly.

Testimonials

From security staff in Derby:

'For me it highlighted an area that has been ignored for too long.  It saddens me that it has caused so many needless deaths.'

'Very interesting subject, relevant to the job we do.'

'Thought provoking and raised awareness.'

Angela, local authority carer - 'The training was very interesting and really highlighted to me how common hate crime really is but is not reported.  I will definitely be promoting the Safe Places scheme and talking to people about hate crime to raise awareness.'
